The Amish Heritage Farm Museum in Amish Country!
The Amish in Ethridge are real Amish and live in their community as their belief system allows. They are not actors or entertainers that perform for an audience. These old order Amish are hard working people with little care for the comforts of life. The Amish Heritage Farm Museum was the first Amish home in Lawrence county. You can see exactly how the Amish make a home and farm close by with their animals and gardens. The museum has excellent buggy tours that take you out into Amish country being pulled by a team of horses! They also have an Amish school house to see how the Amish educate their children. The museum has a game room to wait in the air conditioning between tours or when the staff pulls out a new team of horses. You just have to put the Amish Heritage Farm Museum on your list of must see places in Amish country!
The Heritage Amish House
The Amish Home that is the museum was the first Amish home in Lawrence county. This home was fully restored to truly represent an Amish home today. The Amish in the area are not open to having tours into their own homes so the museum gives you a true story of the Amish home decor and livability. The living area and kitchen show the ability to host larger numbers of family members and their chores where the sleeping quarters show their personal areas of the home. This museum is a must see before you go on the buggy rides.
